Dr. H. Norman Wright discusses the complexities of grief caused by ambiguous loss. More than 1,100 people who vanished in the Twin Towers on 9-11 remain missing…their bodies never recovered from the rubble. Similar to military families whose soldiers are Missing In Action, they grieve without closure. Ambiguous loss also occurs when a child is kidnapped or when a family member has dementia and they no longer recognize their spouse, children or friends. Dr. Wright is a much sought after speaker on the subject of grief and also has authored many books on this subject. He is often called in to provide grief counseling to help a community recover after a notable incident where many lives have been lost.
