This Lunch & Learn event on the subject of Understanding the Effect of Trauma Loss & Abuse on the Brain will provide you with up-to-date research and help you understand the underlying cause of symptomatic behaviors such as depression, panic attacks, shame and guilt in those who have experienced abuse, trauma and complicated grief. We encourage care givers, educators, medical staff, parents, counselors, youth workers, chaplains and others in compassion and grief support roles to attend.

During her multi-media presentation, Dr. Shadi Jani will explain the effect of trauma, loss & abuse on the brain.
- What happens to our brain when we experience trauma, loss, grief and abuse?
- How does this relate to depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress?
- How will our judgment and decisions be affected by changes in the structure of our brain?
Dr. Jani is a General Pactitioner working with the U.C. Davis Research Team on Intimate Partner Violence both in Northern California Clinics and in Sacramento High Schools. Dr. Jani serves on the Board of Directors for B.R.A.V.E. Society and compiles research for this organization that focuses on the effect of bullying on our young people.
